Look What I Found!!

Entenmann’s Gourmet Cookies

IMG_1796

OK…so not everyone will be as excited about this as me…I tend to be a little passionate about my snacky food.  But these are my all time favorite!!  I first saw them a couple of years ago, but in March and they were green shamrocks, with the layer of chocolate on the bottom.  But then, I couldn’t find them one year.  Why do companies do this?  Don’t they know the trauma they are inflicting on their customers?  Days are spent in anticipation as you look forward to going to the store to pick up that one product you have been dreaming about, only to have your dreams crushed as you come to the realization that you will be walking out of the store empty handed…maybe it’s just me.  🙂   Anniehow….then I found a different brand, but the same kind of cookie.  Sweet, buttery sugar cookie with just the right amount of delicious semi-sweet chocolate layered at the bottom, and better yet, they were Christmas cookies!!  So I was able to buy those and get my fill of these delicious treats at the best time of the year.  Except sadly, for the last couple of years, I then couldn’t find that particular brand…oh the pain and loss. (sniff, sniff).

So a couple of days ago, I’m at the store picking up a few things, took a quick scan across the Entenmann’s counter, hmmm, anything good, anything good, and OMG…is it possible?!?!?  YES!! (I think I actually heard angels singing) There they were!!  But there were only two boxes!!  Yep…in the cart they go.  Did my regular shopping yesterday, rushed through all the aisles to get back to that Entenmann’s counter.  Two boxes, again.  The store is obviously toying with me…whatever, so I cleaned them out…all two boxes.

The weird thing is, I did a search on the Internet, even on the Entenmann’s site, and these cookies are no where to be found.  So then I had to check the dates on the boxes, I started thinking maybe these are really old, and someone returned them or something.  No…they are fresh, have no idea why these are not on the Entenmann’s site.  But I have to say, I am enjoying them, daily, with a nice cold glass a milk!!  I have shared…a couple…I may have a problem. 😉

Happy Homemaker Monday

HHMI can’t say that I am always the “happy” homemaker, but I am a homemaker nonetheless, and I came across this link-up and thought it would be fun to join in.  Linking-up with Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:
Blah.  It was close to 40 over the weekend, and will be in the upper 30’s all week, so what little snow we had has melted.  The warmer temperature is nicer than the negative numbers we had a few weeks ago, I would just like some snow.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:
Cinnamon toast, and coffee.

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:
There are new houses being built behind ours, and with the warmer weather the construction guys are working hard to get as much done as they can.  It’s fun to watch how quickly they can get things done.  My mom has a little contest where we all pick what color siding the house will be, the winner gets a Subway gift card.

RIGHT NOW I AM:
Basically taking it easy, been fighting a cold the last couple of days.

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE:
The main areas are clean.  Need to get to the basement and do some organizing.

ON TODAY’S TO DO LIST:10410469_955416381135493_4861895681270346220_n

I wish I was creating this right now, would love to try loom weaving like this picture.  Still researching the different types of looms and a good starter project.  Has anyone tried this?

NEW RECIPE I WANT TO TRY THIS WEEK:
I’m going to start trying new recipes.  This isn’t one I tried this week, but I am making it.   This is not the original recipe, I have made my modifications.

Mexican Dorito Casserole

2 c. shredded cooked chicken (I cook about 1 1/2 lbs. in the crock pot)
2 c. shredded Mexican cheese (or cheddar)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup milk
1 cup sour cream
1/2 can Ro-tel tomatoes (canned diced tomatoes and green chilies)
1/2 can Diced tomatoes
1 packet taco seasoning
Bag of doritos

Directions:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350-f degrees.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except doritos.

3. In a greased 9 x 13 baking dish, put a layer of crushed Doritos (about 2 cups), then a layer of the chicken mixture, then a layer of cheese. Repeat once more, ending with a layer of chess, and a few crushed Doritos. Top with more shredded cheese, cover, and bake for 30-35 minutes, till bubbling hot.

I serve it on shredded lettuce with backed tortillas.  I take soft flour tortillas, cut them in quarters, lightly spray them with spray butter and but them in the oven for 8 minutes at 350.

FAVORITE PHOTO FROM CAMERA:
My daughter has her own photography page on Face Book, and Instagram, and has recently gotten back into it.  So I will share some of her stuff here.  This week I will combine the photo and quote together.  Sometimes she will incorporate her own sayings right into the photos, or as captions.  I couldn’t pic just one, these are two of my favorites.

TODAY’S PROMPT: SEND

GO…

sendButtonDo you ever stop and think about how much information we actually send through the universe on any given day?  We send faxes, we send documents, we send pictures and links to websites…we send text messages, sometimes to a family member who is just in the other room.  It’s at that moment I wonder what resources were actually used to ping the cell tower to deliver that message, when one of us could of gotten up and walked to the other room and asked a question, lol.  Anniehow…We are so used to sending messages and photos and instantly getting a reply back, that we have forgotten about the excitement in the anticipation of waiting for a reply.  I was reminded of this over the holidays when I sent a package to my BFF. I noticed she had posted a comment on my sister’s Face Book page about how she would love some of the Roshky we make at Christmastime.  I knew I had to send her some, so that is what I did.  I packed them up in a nice Christmas box, and wrote a little note, and sent them on their way.  I knew it would take a few days to get to her, but I knew she would be surprised. I love to send things through the mail, especially now when it is somewhat of a novelty.

4402369-a-parcel-package-box-in-a-mailboxSo in the days that it took for this little package to travel from the Midwest to the East Coast, I found myself thinking about her more, wondering each day if this was the day she would receive the package.  We had talked about a week prior, she was actually fighting a cold and I could tell she was feeling a little nostalgic as we reminisced about our childhood, so I knew this package would brighten her day.  I was looking forward to hearing from her once she received the package.  Sure enough, when she did get it, she took a picture of it and posted it on my Face Book page to thank me for them.

So, It doesn’t matter how we send something, what matters is that we take the time to send something.  Receiving a package in the mail, or receiving a photo through social media had the same effect.  It connected two long time friends, and brought smiles to our faces and made our day a little bit brighter.

STOP…PENCILS DOWN

I’ve Been Waiting…

Woo Hoo!! Finally, our first snow fall of the winter!!  This morning I awoke to snow on the ground, and that light misty snow in the air.  By mid-morning those big fluffy flakes were falling, and now everything is covered in a blanket of snow!!  (*sigh*…happy now…love when it snows!!)

Here’s a pic of the only thing left in the garden.  This is a stone house that my dad made.  The stones he used are from the beach off of Lake Michigan.
