Good Afternoon!! Putting this together late, my days are all mixed up, didn’t realize it was Monday!! These are our last days of summer, we start school on Wednesday, UGH!! Yeah, the summer went by way too fast. Had a good weekend, more on that later. Tomorrow we will be going to the Back to School Celebration at the park. Enjoy your week!!
LOL CHUCKLES, AND GIGGLES: RECIPE I WANT TO TRY:
Ooey Gooey Sugar Cookies. Enough said.
SUMMER FUN
Over the weekend, they held the first round of the P1 AquaX Great Lakes Series, jet ski races on Lake Michigan.
Always glad to see the EMTs on standby.
They had several races on Saturday and Sunday. Me, Liv and the boys headed out on Saturday, and it was a gorgeous day. Sunny, but a cool breeze. The breeze was kicking up some waves on the lake, which made the race probably more challenging. The course was set up from the pier to the break wall. We were able to stand along the board walk, and get an up close look as the jet skiers flew by, kicking up the waves and sending a nice mist our way. The organizers of the event had a drone flying over head, probably taking pictures. Those things creep me out, feel like I am being watched, lol.
The races went on for about 30 minutes, had no idea how they kept up with the laps, but there was a guy set up on the large gazebo with tons of speakers, announcing the race and playing music. This was the first year out here, and not many people were there. But it was really fun to watch.
After the race
FAVORITE VIDEO FROM THE INTERNET:
I have seen this video before, but recently a friend posted it to their FB page. I think this is absolutely incredible, playing ping pong with nunchucks!! I became a Bruce Lee fan when I saw the movie Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.
Good Afternoon!! Had a good weekend. Had some things to take care of as I start another school year home schooling my last two. We have the opportunity to have the boys attend a virtual school, at no charge!! Indiana Connections Academy offers it for free for residents of Indiana, this will be a much better opportunity for the boys, so I had a bit of an enrollment process and orientation to complete by this weekend, since they will begin on August 10th. Much earlier than we usually start, but we will be done before Memorial Day. Looking forward to a great year!!
Yes, I did venture out to Pierogi Fest, more on that later. August 1st, last days of summer, make them count!!
WHAT’S FEEDING MY BOOK ADDICTION:
I am awaiting an ARC to beta read from my friend on the second book in her series, looking forward to that.
LOL CHUCKLES, AND GIGGLES: RECIPE I WANT TO TRY:
Death by Chocolate Zucchini Bread
This looks really yummy, and it has to be healthy right? With all that zucchini in it? Funny thing, my dad was not a big vegetable guy (hmmmmm), Anniehow…whenever my mom would have Zucchini bread, she would tell him it was banana bread, just so he would eat it, and he did, and loved it. (Yeah, I fell for it too, she later told me though). I thought of him when I saw this recipe, he would have definitely liked this one too.
SUMMER FUN
Pierogi Fest. What is it you ask? It’s a whole bunch of crazy I tell ya, with tons of food and just as much beer. This fest runs the last weekend of July and has received countrywide recognition on the Food Network and the Travel Channel, and draws over 150,000 people to our small town. The fest is held on our main street which gets shut down well before the fest begins. My sister and I went out to eat on Wednesday, and we tried two places in town, both were closed already!! We had to cross the border to another town, just to get something to eat. Madness I tell ya.
So the fest celebrates the Polish and Slovak culture that are the roots of our town. Food venders galore, with every type of polish food, and creative mixes as well. There was a booth that had Mexican Pierogis. There is also a beer garden and several stages with various types of music. We even had the Village People perform at our Baseball Stadium.
Yes, I was really there….with Ben.
All during the fest you can see Mr. Pierogi, Halupki Guy, Ms. Paczki, and the Buscias. Lot’s of Buscias. There is a Pierogi eating contest, and a Pierogi toss. Yes, a greasy, slimy, buttered Pierogi to catch. The winners are 4-year reigning champs. My dad used to present the award for the eating contest, which was a Stanley Cup, (since his name was Stanley). He also would participate in the parade as part of the Lawnmower Brigade. Yes, pure silliness at its finest. The Buscias do a cooking show on the main stage, and I caught them doing the Buscia Feud game show on Sunday.
Livi and this gorgeous Buscia….yeah, it’s like that.
I am not a big fest goer. There are too many people for me. But Sunday morning we walked to church, since parking is ridonculous. So we walked through the fest on our way home, and I did get my funnel cake AND elephant ear. Yes totally worth it. The crowd was minimal, and the weather was pleasant. My sons of course wanted to try every kind of food we passed. We came upon a vendor that had various things on sticks, covered in chocolate, and Elijah is like, “It’s chocolate covered bacon…on a stick!! Food is just better when it‘s on a stick.” Yep, sums it up pretty well. 🙂

This is such a wonderful idea, and such an adorable fur friend!! I was introduced to therapy dogs a couple of years ago while attending a church in our old neighborhood. Her name was Darla, and a golden retriever. She was part of a Lutheran organization that has several goldens as therapy dogs, and were sent out to Sandy Hook, Darla included. I thought it was a good idea to have one at church, since so many people come to church to find comfort, and what better way then to be able to sit and just pet this beautiful, lovable creature. This is an even better idea to have one present at funerals.
We have many people in our neighborhood who walk their dogs. There is one in particular I just love, I have no idea what kind of dog she is, but the cutest, furriest thing. The other day I was getting the mail, and she walked by, and I had to stop the owner and pet her. But then she didn’t want to leave, lol. I recently saw my other favorite fur friend, Bella, the Irish Setter, with her owner who is an older lady I like to stop and talk with. But they walked by before I could get outside. (They all must think I am crazy, lol).

This is the side of our newly painted garage. My Mom’s new decoration. I helped her hang it, she always lets me use the power tools, lol. 🙂
Good Morning Afternoon!! Yeah…believe it or not I started this post this morning, I love technology, until I don’t!! All kinds of problems with my Internet this morning. Must be from the bad storms yesterday. Anniehow…
I have been gone far too long. My stats have flat lined, and there were cobwebs all over my blog. So let’s dust things off and be on with it. I am off from my job until September, but I have found a lot to keep me busy. The boys will be starting a virtual school this year, which is something new for me, so I have been busy with the enrollment process for that, working on getting a web site together for my Bookkeeping business I am looking to start, and just whatever else comes up on a summer day. This weekend in our town is Pierogi Fest. Tons of people, so I don’t know that I will venture out, but I just might, been thinking about Elephant Ears and Funnel Cakes!! Hope everyone is staying cool, it has been extremely hot the last couple of days.
Breakfast Lasagna. Not a big breakfast person, coffee and chocolate chip muffins are my staple, but this looked pretty yummy to me, I do like French Toast.

Enjoyed time with my brother and his granddaughter, (my great niece!!) who is seven, the other day, we all went for a walk through the park, and splashed our feet in the water at the beach, where she exclaimed, “I feel so alive.” Lol. A fun day in the sun. I always forget about this Koi pond at the park, so beautiful.
Happy 4th of July!! This is/was a big weekend for me. Saturday, I had my 30th High School Reunion. Had a blast catching up with some old friends. We had a small class, so you knew everyone, and even after all these years, we all just picked up right where we left off.
Today is also my Benji’s birthday!! He’s my youngest and turns 11 today. He has informed me that after today, he will be called Ben. 😥 my heart. It won’t be long before he joins rank in the land of giants, with my other two tall boys!! See fun pics below.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and, and enjoy the upcoming week!!
WHAT’S FEEDING MY BOOK ADDICTION:
This book. Get it on Amazon. By fellow blogger, Dan Alattore.
What drew me to this book was the cover, then to find out it’s about archaeology students on a dig who unearth a time machine!?!? I had to read it. I have always been intrigued by archaeology. This book grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the. very. last. line. Dan Alattore is an exceptional writer, the details, feelings and wit in this story draw you in, and you feel like you are right there with each character. His characters are true to life, some lovable some not so much.
It has all the ingredients for a great summer read. A suspenseful time travel story, seasoned with entertaining characters, and peppered with a little romance, what’s not to love!! This story makes you really think about the possibility of time travel, and is done in such a way that I haven’t seen done before. I look forward to reading this book again, it’s one of those stories that I’m sure I will find some detail that I missed the first time, and will enhance the story even more.

This is one of my favorite parts of the 4th. These planes fly over the beginning of the parade. This is our flag and the flag from the Library across the street. What a sweet job this would be, just flying around on the 4th. It may be a small town, but we do the fourth big!!
Good Morning!! Summer has arrived with some hot weather. Had a fun weekend with the boys at Superhero Saturday, more on that later. Hope everyone is enjoying the warm sunny days. Enjoy your week.
WHAT’S FEEDING MY BOOK ADDICTION:
I’m ashamed to call myself a book lover, haven’t read anything in awhile. I did finish the beta read, and it was a lot of fun providing feedback.

Banana Split Ice Box Cake
This looks like such a delicious summer time treat!!
SUPERHERO SATURDAY:
So The Avenger’s for Superhero Saturday were legit. All along our main street, there were various vendors selling things. They set up the Superheros in front of the school. We had to wait in line, to get our picture taken with them. It was a long line. At first I wasn’t sure I wanted to wait in such a long line, I mean, if that was actually RDJ in that Iron Man suit, there would be no question, lol. But it was the main reason we came, it was a nice day, and the boys and I had fun even in the waiting.
Just after we started moving up in the line, the Superheros had to take a break 😐 It was supposed to be a 20 minute break which turned into 35, I was like what the heck, are they on Asgard time or what? So this is the video of them returning from their break. I don’t know who the little girl was, but one very lucky one for sure. That’s Captain America!!
The organizers of the event kept the line moving for pics. So it was pretty quick. The Superheros were very friendly, shook our hands, talked with Benji a little bit as we posed. When they took one look at Elijah, Thor was like, dude, you get in back with the Superheros.
There was another section that had Bumble Bee. This guy was there last year. The car is awesome!! There was a section where you could play bags, which also looked like Bumble Bee.
There were rock climbing walls, and bouncy houses, and then a whole section of vendors selling comic books and action figures, which is where they boys really wanted to go. Also a couple of boulders along the way, that the boys so graciously moved out of the way for me. Everyone is a Superhero on Superhero Saturday.
