WHAT’S FEEDING MY BOOK ADDICTION:
A Better Way to Pray by Andrew Wommack. I haven’t read a book like this in a long time. I recently met with my dear friend before she left for her mission trip to Africa. We usually spend about 3 to 4 hours in a restaurant talking about everything from our families to our faith. We’ve known each other for a good while, and she is a minister. It’s nice to be able to talk with her, and not worry about being “religiously proper” and yet she can give some really good sound answers. My background is I was raised Catholic, and then attended Apostolic/Pentecostal churches after I got married, and most recently not attending church for some time, to be honest, I’m not interested in religion, but still have faith in God. Anniehow…she suggested this book to me, and I was skeptical at first, because I had heard some things from him some time ago, that didn’t agree with me, but I gave it a chance, and I really enjoyed. This isn’t your normal book about prayer, and he isn’t shy about mentioning things that are taught and disagreeing with them. As he says in the book, this isn’t a book about the BEST way to pray, but a BETTER way to pray, and you can decide for yourself if it’s for you.

RECIPE I’D LIKE TO TRY:
I haven’t come across much lately, need to find some new things to try. I did see a recipe for Chocolate Chip Bacon Cookies which looked really good. I’ve always wanted to try that chocolate/bacon combo, and still haven’t yet. Need to put this on my list.

WHAT’S ON THE TV:
All the usual, Castle, Quantico, Blindspot. I didn’t start watching The Voice this time around, starting those kinds of shows takes like a real commitment, LOL, I used to faithfully watch Dancing With The Stars, but it was like a job. I may try and catch a few episodes, I miss watching all that dancing!!

FAVORITE VIDEO FROM THE WEB:
Now that I have an Instagram account I have been following all these people who do hand lettering (along with a couple of puppy dogs, gah!!). I don’t know if it is helping me or hurting me. They make it look so easy, and I just want to be able to letter like they do!! This guy especially, Ian Barnard, I love his accent, and he is amazing. I did download some of his work sheets for some serif fonts, yeah…I need practice. But he does it with Sharpie markers!! And they are perfect each time. One day…one day!!

Happy Pi Day!!  If you don’t know what this is, check out my post here.  Pi is a mathematical symbol that represents 3.14 followed by a string of numbers. Then there’s Pie…so it’s appropriate on Pi day to grab yourself a slice. I am totally slacking this year, and did not make a pie, I’ve been too busy searching for that hour we lost 😉  I’m sure I’ll find it sometime in November…here’s to a great week ahead!!

MOVIE REVIEW:the_peanuts_movie_ver34
This was so worth watching!! For those of us who grew up on the Peanuts, and passed it down to our kids, this is such a great movie. It stays true to the original, fun, simple, good-natured laughs. I still love Snoopy!! This movie is really the Peanuts that we all love, but like in HD, since the animation is 3D. Worth the watch for the whole family. Elijah (15) even enjoyed it, and Benji was like, “there isn’t a bad thing to say about that movie.” He even mentioned how he liked how they stuck to the original, and didn’t add all that new junk to it.

I still need to catch up on Castle, but Quantico, and Blindspot? Keeps us guessing.  I hate that this is the final season for The Good Wife, the characters in this show are so funny!!

Had to share this music video by Meghan Trainor. ❤ Love Meghan Trainor!!  This was one of the songs in the Peanuts movie, and everything IS Better When I’m Dancin’.

Hey There!!  Is it safe to say that spring is on its way?  Well being that Sunday begins Daylight Savings Time (UGH!!), our days will definitely get longer, and the spring fever will be at an all time high.  I think I’m ready for it now, plus it will bring us closer to flip-flop weather!!  Have a great week!!

WHAT’S ON THE TV:
Blindspot is back tonight!! I see a new season of the Voice starts as well, I might start that again. Have to catch up on Castle and The Good Wife.

RECIPE I HAVE TRIED:
OK, so a couple of weeks ago, I posted a recipe from the internet called Healthy Cookies. O.M.G. So not good!! As I was making these, I’m like there isn’t any eggs in these, but I’ve made cookies before without eggs, no flour, only oatmeal. Yeah…total fail. These were horrible, and such a waste of time and ingredients. That is the problem with getting stuff on the internet, obviously something was missing from this recipe, but people tend to just post things without proofreading…which. drives. Me. Crazy. I know there are times a typo slips past the eagle eye, but this seems like there was something really missing. *Deep breath* ok…done with rant 🙂

But…I did try these and they were delicious!!

Pull-Apart Ham & Cheese Sliders

Makes 9

INGREDIENTS
1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls, sheet of 12 rolls left intact (not pulled apart)
8 slices deli ham
4 slices Swiss cheese
9 pickle slices (optional)
¼ cup (½ stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

PREPARATION
1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.

2. Remove 3 buns on one end and cut the remaining 3×3 sheet of sweet rolls in half lengthwise. Arrange the bottom half into a square baking pan. Layer evenly with ham slices, then Swiss cheese, then pickles (optional). Cover with the top half of the sweet rolls.

3. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and mustard, stirring until evenly mixed. Pour the butter mixture all over the top of the sandwiches. Bake for 20 minutes until the sweet rolls are golden brown and cheese is melted. Cut into individual sandwiches.

I did mine a little different, because I’m not a mustard kinda gal, so I replaced it with Miracle Whip. Very yummy.

FAVORITE VIDEO FROM THE WEB:
I would love one of these in our little backyard nook. This made me think of the fairies that hang out over in the Northwoods 😉

My daughter did a photo shoot on one of the warm days with one of her friends. The shadows are so cool in this pic.

Happy Monday Morning!!  We are off from school today, so I get to spend my day doing a bunch of other stuff, lol.  We had a beautiful snowy Sunday.  Not a lot of accumulation, but the snow fell consistently all afternoon and evening, at least it is something.

WHAT’S FEEDING MY BOOK ADDICTION:
Know Your Heart by Tracey Alvarez. This is the second book in the Far North series, tagged as A New Zealand Enemies to Lovers Romance. I enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters. Savannah is an actress, who was kicked off a movie set and replaced by a younger actress. She flees to her holiday hideaway house in Bounty Bay to get away from the media, and to lose a few pounds and get back in shape to prepare for an audition of a lifetime in LA. When she arrives at her home, she finds Glen, a friend of her cousins, and a lawyer who is there to fulfill his dream of becoming a writer. Being the lawyer that he is, he has a tenant agreement initiated by her cousin, that he refuses to break, therefore, leaving Savannah unwelcome in her own home. The tension between these two stubborn people is fun. For some reason, this little exchange made me laugh:

At least he’d finished laughing his butt off at her expense.
“Need a hand?”
Not unless he chopped it off and let her use it to slap his face. But she hadn’t been nominated for a Golden Globe for nothing.

Kid’s Baking Challenge
The Good Wife
Castle

RECIPE I WANT TO TRY:
These look really easy, delicious and healthy. I wonder how strong the banana flavor is in them. Worth a try, can’t go wrong with chocolate chip cookies!!

Healthy cookies

3 Mashed Bananas (ripe)
1/3 c Applesauce
2 c oats
1/4 c Almond Milk
1/2 c Raisins or dark chocolate chips (I would use the chips) 
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350. Bake for 15-20 minutes! Yummy!

NOT SO HELPFUL TIP:
Recently I posted about cleaning an iron with salt. Yeah…it didn’t work, and I think I broke my iron. 😐 There has to be a way to prevent it, or clean it easily, one day I’ll find it!!

FROM THE CAMERA:
So the boys and I had fun making our ice marbles. Even as cold as it was, it took a couple of days for them to completely freeze.

IMG_0749

This blue one turned out really cool, you can see the frozen bubbles inside of it.

Since we didn’t have a lot of snow, they were mostly sitting on the ground, so there are some flat spots.  It would be best if you could let them freeze in a pile of snow, because they would keep their shape better.

We also picked some of them up too soon, and all the water came out of the bottom, but it made a really cool ice bowl, it looks like it is etched too.  So we made some colorful ice cubes to fill the bowl.
